My uncle was the one who made me want to become a local guide. He showed me the pictures he took from the places he went to, and he was proud of the numbers of “views” he got.
So I started posting pictures and reviews myself.
What I find the most rewarding is the feedback you get from what you do. The other people can reply to your reviews. You can get likes. You can see how many views you get. And you also receive a email from time to time to do a recap about what happened in the previous month.
This is the picture I’m most proud of, it has over 100 000 views (Buttes Chaumont park, in Paris):
What I like about google maps is also the reliability of the reviews. There are a lot of websites with fallacious reviews made by the owners, or by their competitors. But on google maps, the information you get is reliable. When you go to a 4.8 stars place, you know it’s gonna be good. And I like to keep google maps this way, as a local guide.
