What does the Local Guides program mean to you?

Being a local guide has helped to open my eyes as I travel around both at home abroad. What this means is that I walk around taking in more detail than I had previously so that if I were to write a review I would have more information to write about. I also take more photographs to help me remember a place, I tend to take both wide shots of a places and also detail shots, things like door handles and manhole covers (sometimes it is worth looking at your feet  ).

I also take photographs of shops and food so I can post those photographs later and write about the food or other goods.

I have found looking at the detail and taking more time to take things in has made my travel a richer experience as I have absorbed more about a place.

And being a local guide I tend to use Google Maps and the posts and reviews made by other to help guide me. I especially like looking at other peoples photographs as I think they show a place as it really is, sometimes a professional photographer may spend a lot of time on one photograph, they may return day after day to get that perfect shot. For many of us we only have the one visit and so have to get the best shot or visit we can at the time we are there.

I love to travel and it works well being a local guide abroad.
