What does the Local Guides program mean to you?

Being a local guide isn’t something that I had planned to do, but having a passion for traveling really does have its perks. I spent most summers on Cape Cod growing up and I always enjoyed answering the questions of “what’s your take on eating here?” or even the ever so thrilling “why did you chose to go here rather than here?” I think these types of questions are exactly why I decided to start reviewing places I went. I want to have the informative review and even sometimes pictures too for people to look at because most people don’t go to a new restaurant sometimes now without looking up the menu online or looking for images of the food and drinks to see if it will be worth their money.

We live in a world where knowing if a place is worth our time is decided in a matter of minutes after reading reviews and looking at images. These reviews and images wouldn’t be possible without the help of local guides and I consider myself very lucky to call myself one. I know I do not contribute as much as I should, but I always make sure to review places where I visit on vacation as much as I can. I incorporate as many images as I can in my posts and make sure to give a detailed description as to why I did or didn’t like the place I visited. I feel like my reviews make a difference in people’s decisions and I like knowing that even if only a few people saw my positive review, at least I talked about my experience and hopefully the business owners see it and feel appreciative.
