¡Hola! Bonjour a tous! Hello everyone! My name is Carlos Bonilla Rosillo, I’m 21 years old and I live in a wonderful city of Spain named Valencia. I have to say that I was born in Cuenca, a misterious and medieval city settled by two rivers, that I encourage you to visit (Valencia too!). Travelling, gastronomy and technology would be the perfect words in my biography.
I’m studying a Telecomunications Engineering, as I’ve always loved technology ?, specially mobile phones and computers. That’s why I started collaborating with Google Maps 4 years ago - time goes so fast… ?-, as my first picture was uploaded in 2016, with 17 years old. However, Google has been part of my life since I started using computers and Internet… At least for “googling purposes” ?
I have to admit that all this stuff began for me as a hobby. For example: I was meeting with my friends to have dinner in a town bar. My friends order the “specitality burger” that weights 2kg ? (4libs 7oz), so I decide to make some photos of the astronomichal ? and send them to my family group. But I say, “why not to uplead it to Google Maps too, to help more people finding this cozy restaurant near home?” And that’s a beginning… ?
As I said, my first step was uploading pictures ?. That was easy and helpful. But someday, a friend told me: “Don’t you review the restaurants as well?” I thought to myself: “I’m not a critic, why doing so?”. Neverthless, I wanted to let people know how well a waiter had treated my family and me, or recognize the great work the cooker has done, or merely state how clean and elegant a shop is. I wanted to give merits to people who really diserves them. So I said again (you know this ?) “why not?”
Currently, being a Local Guide has become a very important thing in my day to day. First of all, I check my chronology ? every night to see where I’ve been, how many kilometers I’ve walked… Another thing quite useful I want to highlight are the emails Google Maps sends! It is quite curious to see how much time I’ve spent on public transport, how much distance of the perimeter of the Earth I’ve achieved…
When I’m going out to any restaurant or bar, firstly I check the maps’ page and see the reviews. This is more useful as I can choose the exact food we want to taste ?. Thanks to the new functionality of recommendations based on your interests, I’m discovering new and interesting places everyday that are entering in my Favourites List!
I learn everyday. When new functionalities are added to Maps, I love tryingthem. Public transport notifications is the last one I find very useful. Thanks to that I save much time checking when the bus is arriving, if a pick the car which way I should take… What is more, I even have friends that ask me mobility issues ?, like "which bus line do I have to take to go to…?" or “Do you know what’s the best route to go to …?”. I like a lot answering this things.
Not much else to say… I think I have understood the importance and beauty of my “work”. Helping, guiding, recommending, advising other people… That’s what I like. And that is what I will keep doing everyday. My plans do not include staying still. I’m moving, and Google Maps is my adventure comrade.
PS: Thanks to everyone who read that! I will be pleased to make any recommendations about Spain or whatever you might be interested in! I can communicate by English, French or Spanish. Bye bye!?
