As a person who has lived abroad for several years, the Local Guides means a lot to me.
Local Guides could have helped me from the beginning of my move to Holland. The first years in a foreign place were very difficult. I didn’t know anyone here and there was no one to show me around. In the first days of my stay in the new place of residence, thanks to him I could not yet know the Dutch language, for example, to find a grocery store or good restaurants near my home. During these few years I met my surroundings and now I am trying to help my countrymen and other people by assessing different places and adding photos.
The second thing that makes Local Guide important to me is my hobby - traveling. When going on vacation I try not to use travel agencies, but try to plan my own time.
That was during the last trip to Portugal.
The only thing we had with my boyfriend is a hotel and a rented car. We spent the whole day visiting beautiful places and breathtaking beaches, which I managed to find in the Local Guide. At the time, we were based on the opinions of other people and their photos. By going on a trip with a travel agency we would not see most of these places because they were not popular among tourists.
