My hobby is running. I’ve participated in multiple marathons, half marathons and trail running events in Kyiv, Poltava, Odesa, the Carpathian Mountains (Ukraine), Amsterdam (the Netherlands), Atlanta, Philadelphia (the U. S.).
Several years ago, after one of such event in Kyiv, my friends and I decided to get some burgers at the WOG petrol station. Suddenly, one of my friends took his smartphone, and photographed the enterior of the petrol station cafe and the meal itself. We asked him why he did that. And he said that he was a Google expert (local guide), and he wrote reviews of different public places.
From that time I downloaded hundreds of photos, and wrote reviews of various cafes, restaurants, shops, parks, etc. not only in Kyiv, my native city, but also everywhere I travel on business or for running events. I feel myself proud when I receive the message from Google like thousands of people have watch your video, or photo about a spot. I believe that these reviews and media really help people to find out about the places they’re interested in.
Currently I try to use other features of Local Guides program: listing, adding places, and routes. Let others be prepared of what to expect from the unknown places.
