What does the Local Guides Program mean to me?

I am living in Dubai, for more than 7 year now, known to be the Las Vegas of the Middle East, where a lot of places could impress you in a way or another.

Surprisingly, my first Local Guide review was in August 2018 about a resort I visited in Entebbe (Uganda). As a customer service expert I was impressed by the level and quality of customer satisfaction provided by the staff of that resort.

From time to time after that, I checked my Local Guide profile where I started seeing views to my review increasing by time.

I, somehow, liked that and I started sharing my opinion about the places I visit wherever I go around the world.

By time, I realized that sharing my review about a place could not simply be sharing of an opinion, but rather a way of guiding people about things they might not be aware of about a place they intend to go to, either in its positive or negative aspects.

I believe now that contributing to Local Guides not only by reviews, but also by answering questions, suggesting edits, posting photos, etc… is an important tool to raise awareness of places people are not recommended to visit or places which are too good to visit but people do not sufficient information about and therefore reluctant to go to.
