Hi, my name is Artem!
The Local Guides program were started about 4 years ago, but I even earlier I discovered the Google Street View. In 2014 I got a Google Nexus 5 phone, the only phone that could make a photosphere. I liked that such a simple device can make such unique photos and I also wanted to share these photos. I made many panoramas exactly where Google didn’t make, and over a million people watched them.
At once I was so carried away by this that I wanted to become a member of Google Tracker and get the device that creating panoramas where the car actually doesn’t drive. I sent a request, but have not received a reply. At the same time Google Street View were combined with Google maps in one service, and I began to take less and less panoramas. I miss creating photospheres and publishing them in Google Street View, when this service was isolated from Google maps, but at the same time gave the Google maps users the opportunity to watch panoramas. I think, it was more convenient.
Then I started to write reviews and answer questions in Local Guides program. For example “Is this place suitable for disabled people?”. I continue to use Google maps and I would like to help with the development of Google maps in Russia, because some important objects appear on Google maps much later than a competitor.
Thanks for attention and see you at Connect Live 2020!
