What does the Local Guides program mean to me?

In 2016 my friends and I traveled to Spain and visited Palma de Mallorca - culture-rich and perky city with magnificent architecture. We decided to look for a cozy place to eat, so I chose the fastest way to search for recommendations regarding restaurants in Palma de Mallorca on Google maps. Well, I chose the fastest way, but the best and the most convenient way as it appeared later! According to these recommendations, I located a nice place very quickly. It was called Capri moon restaurant. We had a perfect dinner that evening: the food was delicious, personnel was kind, polite and helpful. I brought fantastic memories back to Lithuania. It turns that these easily reachable recommendations on Google maps is just perfect and can quickly fill needs of every traveler.

After this trip I started to post photos and videos on Google maps and local guide community. After some time, I found this nice initiative - Google Local Guides. I liked it a lot - it is like a game. You reach levels, get improvements and rewords - a game, only of a real life! Indeed!

So every time when I am visiting a nice place, I post my experience and recommendations on Google maps. Some of my friends say it looks stupid and strange, but, you know, it is kinda funny, because when they are visiting cities, the first thing they look, for example when looking for a places to eat, is information and images on Google maps. Yep! So, who is stupid now?

I love to share my experience with others, because that’s how we create memories and find out places we can’t even imagine they exist.

Hi @EdgarasT ,

It seems that you’ve shared a post for your Connect Live 2020 application. Keep in mind, one of the requirements is to share your post on Local Stories, so I’ve moved your post there, thanks.

Feel free to have a look at the application guidelines and find some handy tips for creating an application post.
