Once upon a time at my 18th birthday I was trying to find the best place for my bd’s party. Furthermore I like experiments, surprises and new feelings. So I want it to be something new for me. But we have so many beautiful, lovely and extraordinary cafes, restaurants and such at Moscow. Really! Soooo many!!! Moreover, I want it to be perfect cause it’s still my birthday. Novel but perfect. Besides to be frank I had no unlimited budget. So… novel, not so expensive and perfect. Cause it’s my 18th BIRTHDAY (in Russia this age is the first year of adulthood). Yes, it’s really complicated. And I was really messed!
All websites of different places were nice and pretty with good written descriptions and perfect photos which were made by professional photographer with professional light. And we all know – it’s not true reality. All websites are just advertisement. They never told you about minuses.
But who can tell you whole truth? The answer is obvious – just common people. Not mentors or celebrities. Just people like you.
And I opened the Google maps…
After my birthday (of course it was great) I thought: “hmm, I think I should to thank for this huge help”. But how? Cause simple “like” or comment “thank you” – it is not enough! What did this people to me? They helped me to made up, find solution, helped me to decide.
And the best thank could be an action – the same action which they did. So I become a Local guide.
Some days after it becomes my passion, I really like this process – to write something, take photos. It stimulated me to searching some new places sometimes hiding from viewers: secrets parks, unknown alleys, not so famous museums, some small but lovely shops, some just opened cafes etc. I felt myself like explorer.
After half of year I remarked some new good thing for me – different people asked me for advices again and again. Something like: “I suppose you must know a pretty place to drink coffee” or “I don’t know where I should go with my girlfriend, she like activity, maybe you know some places for us?” I remarked and another thing – my friends, relatives, followers become visiting the same places where I was. I felt my importance and it was pleasant senses. I felt that I do really useful things, that I’m part of something big, great and important.
What does the Local Guides program mean to me? Firstly it’s about help, about care, about people.
