I am Manoj Jha a level 6 local guide from Mumbai Maharashtra India.
When I started my journey as a local guide I had no idea where this program will take me in the future. My story of the local guide journey is very fun actually. I got my android phone when I was in my engineering in Pune Maharashtra, and believe me nobody in my friend circle or even in my family even knew about Google Local Guide program then so same I was. One day I visited a restaurant in a Mall with my friends and I took lots of pictures there. When I came back after a few hours when my pictures got uploaded to google photos I got notification of the place that I visited based on my pictures and it was asking me to add those pictures and give a review on it. So that was the time when I read about the local guide program and started to contribute more to it like a local guide.
At that time when I was talking to my friends about local guide program and I am a local guide, they were just lol on me and used to call me Devanand(an Actor who worked in Bollywood movie name Guide in 1965), And I was very famous in my college by this name.
Well after the story of how I started my local guide journey, now I want to say what does it mean to me.
So after years of experience as a local guide, first of all, I am so much thankful to the google map team for starting this great place to contribute as a local guide. Google guide is like my passion now. I see people making a decision based on guides review, photos, videos, etc for the place where they want to visit. It actually helps them a lot to save their important time and money.
I feel so happy when people find my reviews, photos helpful for them somehow. I was not a traveler before but after joining the team of guides I am so passionate to find the places which are new and people want to know more about it for their future plan of shop, travel, food, stay anything.
With this, I just want to Thank you to all to read my post. I am so happy to be a part of this great program and My contribution to this program will continue.
