How my interest shifted from reviewing low budget places to baby-friendly ones
A few years back I used to host couchsurfers together with my husband and enjoyed meeting people, who came from different backgrounds and cultures. It was a pleasure to give them tips on various topics such as restaurants on a budget, places to relax or interesting museums. As our work and private schedule got busier, we could no longer host guests but then I discovered google maps which enabled me to continue giving tips and sharing experiences with a global community.
I travel a lot myself and before booking accommodation at the destination or choosing a local restaurant to dine in I always check the reviews on google maps. Thus, in most cases my decision will depend on the opinion of other local guides. While out and about in my hometown or at a destination I feel commitment to share my experience, let it be good or bad. I take pride in helping others this way. And let’s be honest it’s a great feeling to lean back and pat myself on the back seeing how many thousands viewed my photos or read my opinion.
After a decade of backpacking and budget travel my main goal on google maps was to review affordable restaurants and accommodation. Just over a year ago I became a mother, since then I have been on a mission to discover more and more budget places that are baby-friendly (e.g. what services / features they offer in addition to a baby chair) at the same time. The list that I have created also deals with this topic. I have realized how important it is for parents that their little one is safe while they grab a bite or drink. I hope to help and engage parents in my area with information they cannot find anywhere else.
