To fully explain what the Local Guides program means to me, I must start my answer before I became a Local Guide member.
With an enormous curiosity and passion for travel, exploration and knowledge, I’ve always naturally sought locals advice and tips. I know their information is most reliable and they will always have most up-to-date knowledge. Everyone knows something you don’t, everyone also has a special secret place they like to visit. As I’m sure you’ll agree, you can learn and discover so much from talking to people, it’s incredible. Almost like we’re all neutrons inside a brain and we are exchanging vital information simply by talking. People who avoid talking with others are cutting them selves out of a vital flow of energy and information. People like that are usually less happy and less satisfied with their everyday life. Just like our brains reward learning and communication, it makes sense for Local Guides to be rewarded with joy, satisfaction and fulfilment.
Gaining knowledge means I can share it, pass it on. No better place than Local Guides. It’s a portal for like-minded, open-minded people who want to thrive and live their lives to the fullest. From reviewing Documentation Center, Nazi Party Rally Grounds Museum in Nuremberg, to Mount Blanc on the borders of France and Italy, to northern coasts of Spain in Basque country. I’m happy knowing that one day, someone will find my review useful, for one reason or another. Communication is key and it’s fantastic among Local Guiders. A very approachable community with endless energies being exchanged. Up till now my reviews have been posted in Polish, my native language. As I’m expanding my horizons and want to do this professionally, I’ve started making more reviews in English as it’s such a well recognised global language.
To conclude, Local Guides program means I have a well established and secure global network which allows me to follow my passion and create memories that will last many lifetimes. It’s a professional tool for explorers as well as a thriving network organism, which is still alive and growing thanks to the wonderful community.
Whether I’m on a peak of a mountain or in a busy city, I’m never alone and almost feel the presence of the past writers who left their reviews for the place I’m visiting as well as the presence of my future readers in the place I’m writing about. It’s a wonderful feeling which is something explorers from our history could only dream about and emphasises the fact that history is now and we are a part of it. Looking to the sky I think about those who never had the chance to document and share their experiences. I look forward to further engagement with Local Guides and will most certainly continue to get help from local Guides as well as share my tips and experiences for as many places as I visit.
I’m proud to be a recognised Local Guide as part of a growing network.
Best regards
