I joined the Local Guides Program a couple years back and it has had a great influence on my life. I live in a relatively big city called Hilversum which is only 20 minutes away from Amsterdam and Utrecht. For this reason a lot of new people have been moving to Hilversum so that they could live close to work. I wanted to use the Local Guides Program to show those people that Hilversum has more to offer than just a great location. I know all the good spots in Hilversum and wanted to share that knowledge with others. Thank to the Local Guides Program I was able to not only grant people the same amazing experience as I had at restaurant or other place, but also support my favourite places by getting them the customers that they so deserve!
Besides helping others, the Local Guides Program has also been a great shared hobby between me and my dad. After joining the program, I was amazed at all the views my reviews were receiving. I showed this to my dad and he started to write reviews as well. We would go to places together and discuss what we would write in the review. We would up each others game and see who could get the most views. When I told him about the Connect Live 2020 event, he told me I should definitely try, so this is me trying to put to words the gratitude that I feel towards this program for giving me an opportunity to support my city and become closer to my dad.
