Travelling with family and friends has always been a huge part of my life. I’ve always dreamed of quitting my job and travelling across North America in a small RV. Though it is yet to be realized, the Local Guide program plays a big role on my journey towards that dream by allowing me to practice my photography skills and explore while helping others.
First of all, since joining the Local Guide program two years ago, I have had the perfect excuse to stop at any location just a little longer to take pictures. Now, I am no professional and mostly use my phone to take and upload these pictures, but it is always a pleasure to do so. It has already become our favorite father-daughter activity: photographing and editing different pictures together. Furthermore, the more I learn to love photography, the more my perspective changes. For example, when I go on hikes, instead of trying to capture everything, I was able to realize the small details that make our nature so beautiful as a whole.
Second of all, through the Local Guide program, I have been able to discover so much while still helping others. No matter where I travel, I will make an itinerary based on the many recommendations and reviews from other local guides. On the other hand, whenever I come across a restaurant, park, or any public attractions that I enjoy, I will always make sure to leave a review and add my own pictures to help out. I am ecstatic whenever people view my pictures and even if it helps one person, I consider it a success. That being said, I of course want to help even more just like the Bible says: “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35).
All in all, the Local Guides program has become a major role in my life. It has enabled me to discover my love for photography and rendered travelling easier all while still helping others. I hope to be able to experience Connect Live this year to create even more opportunities with the Local Guide Program.
