Community.
I love to travel. In all my adventures, regardless of where it is on the globe, especially African countries, there is one main underlying theme that makes the trip worthwhile. There is a definite marvel in the picturesque sights and culinary treats or just the different culture. Across African countries imbue the aspect of community in all the regions, from the east to western coasts and north and south of Africa. There is the phrase, umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu, I am because we are, that beautifully encompasses the community ideals imminent on the African continent.
As a local guide, I get to share, learn and push out these beautiful experiences to a global platform that serves to showcase the uniquness in our diversity as a people. From the culinary treats on the east african coastf Mombasa and Zanzibar, to trip down memory lanes in Accra and explosions of color and dance in Kumasi… There is a beautiful story that each community seeks to tell.
Being part of this program means that I have a voice and a tool for which I can use to talk about what encompasses me as a person; specially highlighting the community within which I am and sharing that gift with the rest of the world.
