What does the Local Guides program mean to me ?

Boring boring story ?

Hello my name is Oleh Mushinskiy.

I’m a local guide level 9 from Khmelnytskyi city, Ukraine.

We all studied…
In university i started write to Wikipedia.

I have created and translated more than 200 articles and after some time i organized a competition of articles “Month of the 100th Anniversary of the Ukrainian Revolution”.

  1. But most of all I love traveling. The Local Guides program the opportunity to make my city better and that inspires me. There was very little information about cafes, shops, historical places in my city … I decided to change this situation.
It all began when i thought " Why not share with people from my region and country tips, photos, answers to questions ?".

I have visited up to 20 years 6 countries and many cities in my country. For example these are Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Spain, Italy. I also have many friends from Russia, Poland, Estonia.

I decided to share my experience with people from all over the world and continue to help people.
One year ago, I wrote my first review and uploaded some photos to Google Maps.
I wrote 1,200 posts and upload over 6,000 photos and 200 videos.
Now, my photos have been viewed more than four millions times.
My best photo has been viewed four hundred thousand times
My reviews have been read
three hundred thousands times.
I was surprised by the fact, that for several months i was able to beсome one of the 1% of the best googlers in my region.
I think it’s important make google maps better in hard-to-reach places, small towns, because maps are usually the only one place where tourists and citizens can find the necessary things.

Now i realized that if every person wants to significantly improve their city, town or region he/she can do it.
Recently, when i was walking with friends, I noticed that they’ere looking through my photos and reading reviews.
Then they chose the cafe where we had a good evening.
It was really nice, because at this moment I realized that I help hundreds of people every day.

Hi @Coolman2000,

I’d like to let you know that I’ve moved your post to Local Stories, as it looks like an application post and it belongs there.

If you need some tips on how to create it, please check out the How to write a great application post for Connect Live 2020 and Connect Live applications are now open posts.

The meet-ups section of the community where you’ve just posted your story is related more to meet-ups invitations and recaps which the Local Guides are sharing on Connect.

P.S. I’m removing the Ukrainian language tag from your post, as it’s written in English. These tags should reflect the language of the post itself. To read more about the language tags, check here.

Thank you so mach)
