What does the Local Guides program mean to me?

Talking about Local Guides program I have mixed feelings. I think five years, or even more have passed since I started adding information on Maps. They say some people lose interest in time or get bored with their hobbies. Personally, for me the program is something more than a hobby. It is a social duty. Indeed, few things make me still coin information on Google Maps.

#1 Heaven for Introvert.

I find it rather difficult for myself to make a post on social media. I have to think twice what to post, choose a filter and make the perfect image. I adore realism. That is what Local Guides gives to me. The majority of work remains invisible and it encourages you to add more and more information knowing it will be useful for community, and not being afraid to be criticized.

#2 True picture.

It is a place where you can find original images of trendy places. Knowing what to expect and true feedbacks do not leave you a chance to be disappointed. No deleted comments and 100% positive feedbacks. I do not know why it is so pleasant to add photos and check the facts. Later on, when you get “likes” for your posts you know for sure it was read by someone.

#3 Challenge

It is difficult to describe the very feeling of discovery. Once you notice a missing info, you feel like a detective. I start looking for an opportunity to visit the place or change usual route to uncover missing info. A true investigation! The biggest challenge is to find the new place and be the first one to add it.

#4 Addiction or Obsession

In time, you are not shy to say you are a local guide, go straight to the manager, and ask for permission to post photos of the place online.
Can I stop adding information?? I am not sure. As there is no doubt I will go for a walk tomorrow to check out few places ?
