I will try to express my complete experience being a Google Map’s Local Guide and its influence it had on my life.
First of all i would like to say that My name is **Farhan Aslam **and i am currently a Software Engineer by profession and I am a Proud Pakistani Local Guide.
In the very beginning , I was very interested in exploring different applications on android phone and used this Google Maps to navigate to different places i visit inspite of asking people about the places. One day my friend who is an automobile electrician asked me that many people from different cities visit my shop for car’s maintenance work but they find very difficult to locate my shop because it is not there on Google Maps and many people don’t know about your shop. At that time i just started to explore how can i add a missing place on google maps on youtube and got to know the procedure. i then added his workshop to the google maps and showed him his shop on google maps. I told him to share the place with his clients so that they can easily come to your place.
He Thanked me for helping him and getting him out of this problem. i felt so good that it triggered me to do the similar work for more people, to add missing places, to share the contacts of places like hotels and restaurants for bookings, to add timing of different Banks to check if there are open or close at some specified time, to share a bunch of pics of the places i visit. i started to share my reviews of many places that i visit. I never expected any reward from Google for the work i did and up till this time because i did this just to help people to find their destinations easily. In fact, i do this because i can’t express the positive feelings/vibes that i feel after showing people the right way to their destinations and to let people know the truth review about any place before they are intending to visit there.
Being a local guide i feel very proud to help people no matter who they are or from which country they are or from which culture or religion they are. Being a local guide i think beyond all this and try to help the humanity which is the very first thing to consider and serve.
Local Guides Program has given me the authority to share my opinions and suggestion to any place i visit. With the help of which i have posted about 75 reviews about many places i visited. i would also like to share that there are many official Offices of Government where i have shared my complete experience about the place and how the whole step by step procedure is done there. i have posted 1187 photos with 396,302 views on my pics. i am a type of person that where ever i go i take the snaps of that place to share it to google maps so that other people could also review them.i have posted 3 videos, answered 71 questions. Edited 30 places and added 10 new places and much more.
This Local connect guide program will help me to visit San Francisco, California and explore many places there and the best thing is that this will be the very first time i will be expecting some good reward from google. This Local Guide program will encourage me to add more and more places and to help Google Maps to become better. This will surely encourage me to arrange meetups of many different local guides to share their views and opinions about the google maps. This program will help me to meet people of different culture’s local guides. I will learn a lot from them on how i can get better at using google maps and how i can get a better local guide and help many more people. This program will help me to meet other googlers around the world.
As i have mentioned earlier that i keep on exploring different applications and surely i can share my ideas with other local guides and the senior Local guides on how to make this world a global village and to go anywhere without asking peoples and taking there limited reviews.
Helping people and making Google maps better is my hobby and i’ll keep it doing always. Thank you Google for facilitating us with such an amazing application that is best for almost every person who require travelling. Visiting Google will the best experience i’ll ever have and this literally means a lot to me for encouraging me to get deeply involved in Google Map’s Local Guide Program and improving it to make it feasible for everyone with more ease.
