I am still learning about Local Guides, but so far it has encouraged me to get a better phone that takes much better pictures.
I have always appreciated the feedback given on Google Maps from persons who have travelled to places in Jamaica. I never knew it could have been so easy to contribute myself! For me, the Local Guides program is a great way to help others explore places that they have never been. I also get to the view the world from someone else’s personal camera as if I visited there myself.
The added value is the points system with badges in my profile so that I can know how many persons have viewed my posts; ultimately signaling how many persons I have helped in some way.
Now that I have a camera that takes better pictures during the day, I hope I will have many opportunities this year to take pictures of new places and share with the world. My goal after that is to get a better phone that takes great pictures at night!
