I must tell that I knew this program a time ago, but it was not until this autumn that I saw the real potential in it, this program means lots of things to me, but I think it means more to society, they might not know what’s behind google maps, and that’s where we as local guides get in, we are unity, friendship, collaboration, progression and inclusion as we work to create a better tool for people to know magical places and one of the most important things for me, break the language barriers around the world.
I had the opportunity to take a scholar exchange to Moscow, Russia (without knowing any of the language) and while being there, I could take some trips to places like Kazan, Murmansk, Saint Petersburg and even to Japan (also without knowing anything about the language but to say hi, sorry and thank you).
As you can see I made some trips to places where language might be a barrier, and even English is not my mother tongue, and how was this possible?, thanks to all local guides before me, thanks to people around the world who share their experiences with others, thanks to google who gave us the tools necessary to see the world as one.
Another amazing this about local guides is that you can help family and friends, this by supporting their ideas and goals, and sometimes these are built as local stores, unfortunately getting a store to be noticed is hard work that might take months or years but thanks to google this might be past stuff, I personally have been able to help some of my family and neighbors by adding some of their stores to the maps, this gives an amazing boost to the goals of people, you can help friends and all your neighborhood by taking photos, giving reviews, adding schedules and their stores to the map, this is not only a way to achieve the store goals, but also to help people to know each other, collaborate and improve harmony between society.
We do this because we can, we do this because we want, we collaborate between each other and always, if you do good you receive good, there’s always someone or something you can find as local guide that will make you happy, food, friends, places, you name it but something is sure, helping and being helped, that’s the best reward we can get.
