What does the Local Guides Program mean to Me

What does the Local Guides program mean to you?

The words ‘Local Guide’ was very curious to me and kept me wondering what it is all about when I first discovered it. What is it? What does it entails? Who can be a local guide and what is expected of a local guide? I got it all figured out after taking time to know what it really is and decided to take a short at it. I have not regretted being part of it and proud to be a Local guide from Accra Ghana, West Africa.
Being a local Guide has brought me much joy and it means so much to me in the areas of so many things including,
Awareness - Local Guide has made me to be aware of my environment and everywhere I go. Pay critical attention to things, objects and places and bring them on board via google maps so the whole world will benefit. I love reviewing places, answering questions from places I have visited and as a result shine the light on food, event parks, restaurants, hotels and great landscapes from interesting parts of my country Ghana.

This is Bawku where smock, a local and traditional wear for people from the Northern Ghana is made.

Sense of belonging ness - The realisation of belonging to a global family of Local guides from different parts of the world makes me so glad and that’s what Local Guides program means to me. Being part of a family with a common goal of contributions and sharing of experiences for the benefit of all via Google maps is more than enough for me.

Contributions towards good course- How else can anyone share experiences, interesting places, updates of places and information if there was no google maps and let alone Local Guides to do so. Thanks to Google for creating this Avenue for someone like me to also contribute towards a good course for the benefit of the whole world.

Great Feedback- How would one know if he or she is doing a great job as a Local guide by way of contributions if there is no feedback from the able google moderators. A perfect example is the one on Augmented Reality Feature (AR.) in google maps. I was privileged to be part of testing AR in google maps and got a great feedback from the moderators.

(AR on Google Maps Feedback & Discussions Posted my feedback on 23 May 2019 at 5:16pm.) I was so happy by that. Also monthly feedback from google on how well and how people are benefitting from our experiences and contributions and also give more contribution ideas.

Excitement and Fun- Above all these, the excitement and fun that comes from being a Local Guide as I contribute and share my experiences literally put the icing on the cake. Local Guide is the best thing that has happened to me and proud to be a Local Guide.

At Breafast to Breakfast with friends having fun.

Greetings and much love from Ghana, the Gold coast of West Africa.

Leslie.
