Throughout my life (I am only 28 years old) I had the opportunity to visit many places in the world.
I have more than 32 countries visited and traveled almost entirely.
Since I met the Google Maps platform around 2006, I have never stopped using it. I honestly think that google advances much faster with its functionalities than I can adapt to.
This allowed me to get to know many new functions and options of the platform.
At first I used it simply as “a Map”. Over time I managed to find many more functions and started adding photos, comments, ratings, and much more.
I always valued collaborative platforms. And the breaking point of this was on my last trip (July 2019) when I traveled to China, Hong Kong, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates.
In China, official information is very limited. Not everyone can have Websites available or the information is not always in English.
It was thanks to Google’s collaborative platform that allowed me to find opinions and comments from travelers who had already been through the same situation I had been through.
It was thanks to Local Guides that I was able to have accurate information about my trip before making it, but mainly, it was thanks to the platform that I was able to resolve a lot of concerns once I was already there.
Today more than ever, I am fully committed to collaborative platforms like Google Local Guides and appreciate their existence.
