Hi everyone! My name is Esther Ndagire from Kampala in Uganda. Among other things, I am a travel blogger and am very passionate about exploring my city, country, continent and beyond. I have been a Local Guide for about 4 years now and have enjoyed every part of it.
It has given me the opportunity to showcase the beauty and diversity of Uganda. From the rolex joints in Kisementi to the wild waters resorts on the River Nile, post-colonial statues in the city center, and the national parks with magnificent wild animals; I get to contribute to the colorful and positive imagery people see when they search Kampala and Uganda.
One of my fondest memories as a Local guide and blogger was visiting Murchison Falls National Park. The falls are a waterfall found on the course of the Nile. They break the stunning Victoria Nile, that flows across Uganda’s northern region from the vast Lake Victoria to the deep Lake Kyoga and continuing to the northern tip of Lake Albert within the western arm of the great East African Rift. I had never been to the falls before but had heard many interesting stories and also knew that it is one of my country’s top tourist sites for both nationals and internationals. Before hiking to the top, one has to take a boat ride to the hiking spot and here I saw hippos, crocodiles and different types of birds.
The hiking then took 1 hour to get to the top and on the way, I took photos of the breathtaking view of the majestic falls. There’s no way to describe it, you really have to experience it for yourself to take it all in.
After the trip, I uploaded all the photos onto Maps so that whoever needs to see the beauty of the falls, can see them from my perspective as well 
This is what the Local Guides program means to me.
It is rewarding to give back as a contributor to important and relevant information which the online community can benefit from. Sometimes, I receive prompts to answer questions from people and I immediately jump in to help as much as I can.
The Local Guides program is a lifestyle, it’s part of who I am.
As a Level 7 Local Guide also based here in Uganda, your vision of ‘The Uganda I Want to Be Seen’ is exactly what drives me every time I add a new spot in Luweero. 
While you’ve done so much to map Kampala and beyond, I often feel the weight of mapping my region alone. I wish we had more active meetups here to share the ‘Rolex’ and stories you talked about back then.
