My name is Ryan, my current job is a London property investment advisor. Literally for every property purchasing transaction in London, there is a Stamp Duty Land Tax – SDLT.
What does the Local Guides program mean to me? It can be abbreviated as SDLT – Share, Discover, Learn and Transform.
I am a pretty long term Google user since 2000s, Doodler is one of my favouriate Google products. Becoming a Local Guide is by accident. From beginning, I was just wondering to another new feature or product of Google and see what’s going on, have not taken it seriously
But it suddenly changed my mind when one day morning I received an email saying thousands of people have viewed one of my reviews to a place.
I have not thought my short reviews could be so helpful and obtained so many likes by so many people around the world.
I began to give more input, share more about what I have visited and knew, and started to browse what others have reviewed. I began to discover those places where I am interested or schedule a trip to visit. And no surprise, the reviewers and tips are always helpful and give me more knowledge and information about different places, different culture and different angles to see those places. I have learnt a lot, not only knowing more, but also technically benefit from how to use Google Maps, create lists on the map, and benefit from what Local Guides Community has contributed.
By seeing what impacts other Local Guides have brought to their local community is inspirational. I believe keeping do this can make a real difference to our planet. It has transformed me from a normal Internet browser to Level 5 Google Local Guide in less than a year, it also will change how we live, work and interact with other people.
Due to daily busy work, I have not had chance to participate meet-up events arranged by Local Guides, nor having too much time to make friends through Local Guides. But I think the situation may change in the very near future.
Every time I sell a property, SDLT comes into my mind.
Every time I use Local Guides, SDLT (sharing, discovering, learning and transforming) comes up.
Being a proud Local Guide for London - one of the greatest cities in the world, I smile.
