Become a Localguides is one of favorite things in my life.
I even still remember what my first contribution, and also what place that I contribute. My first contribution is when I ate ice cream in one of mall at my town, then I got notification from Google Maps like “How was citimall Sukabumi? Help others know what to expect” [if I didn’t wrong the notification was like that ]
So, I took photo and I upload my photo to Google Maps, after that I got some point! It’s really not a big things but I like it, LOL. And the I looking from Google what poin that I got before, because I was really wondering about it. and apparently it is one of Google’s Program that called Local Guides.
After a few day, Google Maps sent me message by email and told me that my photos has been watched by many people, and I was like… Huh? How could? I was surprised and happy at the same time!!
So, in the middle of 2018, I had been actively contributed on Google Maps, because coincident I like to go around at my town, always take lot of photos, give the details review, also editing incorrect information in a some places.
Sometimes, my friend asked me "what I do with those photos?", “I just upload it on the Google maps” I said, and she asked again “but, why? It’s not your job”, "Because I’m a Localguides, and I’m just happy to do that, it can help many people to know many places on Google Maps" I said again.
Yes, help people to know many places on Google Maps is make myself happy, because it make me think that I am useful for other. And I really excited when Google Maps sent me a messages that My contribution has watched by many people who I can’t count manually the numbers, and it encourages me to contribute more and more.
The other means Localguides for me is friendship and got new family !!
I know Local Guides as big community, even a world community is when I was moving out of my town a.k.a Sukabumi to Bandung,
And in Bandung I joined with Bandung Local Guides Community and attended my first meet-up in Kiara Artha Park’s Meet-up event though it was my first meet-up the member of Local Guides community are really welcome to me and we were sharing many things about Google Maps, Local Guides, also platform localguidesconnect.com at that time, and I know the connect platform was when my first meet-up. Yeay! I thought it was such a great experience!!
