The local guide program represents an opportunity for me to help bring to light all of the amazing aspects in many towns, cities and areas in my home province of Ontario, Canada which can often go overshadowed. There are so many beautiful features of my province and being fortunate enough to have seen so much has left a lasting impression on me that; no matter how bleak it may seem, there is always beauty to be found. This I’ve taken with me in aspects of life from my outlook to my daily interactions.
I have always been amazed at how if you really stop and look into a place from the biggest city or the most remote village, there is always something of value that it can bring to your life. No matter how scary the guy at that gas station was, if you really take the time to look into the history, food scene, local art, and talk to the residents of every area you can quickly foster an appreciation for every place while gaining cultural capital from all aspects that make each environment unique. I have learned so much about myself through the exploration of space and interaction with locals. Each new adventure shapes me and adds to my life in different ways. As a local guide, I value the concept that all of my contributions can actively help bring to light all of the amazing sights, smells, experiences and culture that places have to offer. If my contributions to Google maps can help one person attain a more valuable experience in the province which I call home, all the effort to the guide program will have been worth it. It is this drive to share and explore which keeps me going through everything in life, and it is what I leave with you. Stay curious, for you never know what value it may add to your life.
