I am very delighted to join the Local Guides Program because of even you continuous making contribute to the Google Map but every single detail on the map are still changing every day. Being a Local Guide just like being a Historian to provide local contents that you familiarized to a common collective memory, aimed to ensure the collective memory is the latest, and the old memory will be frozen in this Google time capsule. This is an endless but valuable process. I usually told my friends and family how I love to make contribution to the Google Map because just like happy playing of an eternal puzzle game with many other Local Guides.
Being Local to play animated video puzzles with high diversity and accuracy
You could be the experienced Local Guide but never be the encyclopedia of map. This is not contradictory concept. Even if you familiarized a place for past 10 years, it will also be disappear tomorrow. Contributing to the Google map as a Local Guide, it is just like playing endless and moving puzzles, changing images but many missing places of each image. This is an exciting challenge and made you feel like travelling in this puzzle every day. When I travelled to the foreign countries, I have been always reminding me to contribute. It is because I could be the eyes for the people who wish to come to this place, bring in your belonged culture and experience and tell your fellows how you feel this place and how they could see the place in your culture. Unexpectedly, other local guides could also contribute and provide views at their horizon to enrich the details. As a result, this puzzle is filled with diversity and stereoscopic from all the contributors. This process is very similar to taking pictures of a building, the local guides contribute images taken at their own angle, and the database collect all the images from multiple angles, finally consolidated a 3D images of this building. It could show the tourist and the viewers the multi-dimensional building. I believe I shouldn’t stop or limit myself on contribution to a topics or angle. I should continuously make contribution to the Google Map at your own style, which provide additional dimension, on how you feel the place, what time is the best to see this beautiful place etc. By doing this consistently, the Google map would be very interactive and intuitive, even the people is disabled or could not be traveling personally, they could have the view from us in an ultra wide angle view of the place in wearing a pair of 4D glasses.
Traveler contribute like a Local
I joined Local Guides Program for about 1 year. I treasure this experience. This Local Guide Program allows me to contribute at anytime. Just few minutes on my Smartphone, the impact could be might be meaningful for the whole community. I love to travel and take photos. These hobbies made me keep the curious to the places even my home town where I lived for 30 years. Living in Hong Kong, a busy city and I love to write reviews for the places in my town. I love to add new places for the new shops, delete those closed shops on Google Map. My favorite country is Japan and I have visited Osaka Japan for 4 times in last year. I provided comments the restaurant I visited and I really wish my fellows could feel the most reality experience when they search the same place. When they manage a visit to this place and I hope they could have an unique experience by following my views. I usually encouraged by my friends who joined the Local Guide Program before, and their reviews also inspired my consistent contribution on Google Map. My friend who is a photographer and took photos when he travelled to golden triangle, he then marked some good sightseeing spots in ChiangMai. I viewed these spots on the Map. Finally I followed his steps to these spots. I am amazed and it is definitely a good help for the tourist to explore these places to see the beautiful angle in their own eye.
