I’m a Level 6 local guide!! It’s incredible, I never thought being a Local Guide would become so important. For me, Google Maps has always been great help. As a Local Guide my main duty is to provide useful information on the places I visit. If you ask me how I decided to become a Local Guide, I would tell you Google decided for me. I created my account in Google and started leaving comments on the places where I would go since I’d get the alerts on my phone asking me what did I think of the place I just visited. One day I got a message on my Gmail from the Google team congratulating me on a job well done. From that moment on I realized I was doing something interesting that has now become one of my favorite pastimes.
Just the act of knowing that someone reads my comments or sees the good quality photos I upload means a lot to me. As a Local Guide, I have a big responsibility with the community, since the comments and replies I make and the photos I upload about the places I visit will impact in a positive or negative way. I try to get better everyday and would love in the near future to be able to share and exchange ideas with other Local Guides.
