For me, the Local Guides program means helping people. And I’m talking not only about someone who read our reviews and choose according it to go to this restaurant for dinner or choose another one? To go to the beauty salon or not? To go to breakfast in that cafe or not? No. I am also talking about helping to those who own restaurants and salons.
Once I wrote a review about gym in Bali (which, by the way, was watched more than 10 thousand times). I wrote that there are not enough sunbeds near the pool - there are only three of them, and even those are broken. And this was a competitive advantage of this gym: they had a pool! But broken sunbeds destroyed this advantage. So there was a pool, but people didn’t use it, because there was nowhere to lie and rest.
The owner of this gym read a review and bought new sunbeds. The next time I came, I saw that there were a lot of satisfied people around the pool resting after a workout.
The number of customers in the gym has increased: the owner was satisfied, customers were satisfied. And all what needed was to notice one small detail that the owner did not notice, because all his attention was concentrated just on the gym (but not on the pool).
Our reviews help owners see and fix what they have not noticed for a long time. And that means helping both: them and their potential customers.
