It’s weird, It’s very weird to write this at this time, I live in isolation in Italy like many others, it is nothing special for all of us, we go on one difficulty at a time and we will surely overcome this situation, however I just read the email to partecipate to the Connect today and I find it very surreal to talk about my experiences as a local guide when I can’t even leave my house freely…
I started to participate in the program as a game and over time I saw many people thanking me for the help I gave them, suggesting days over days the activities in the area and see how it has helped them over time, it is a nice pastime and it was certainly a very good experience.
Perhaps the most significant activity before this period was the one I had in a retirement home for the elderly, and needless to say on purpose, this is the only activity that I manage on Google Business, I helped them to have visibility and create their image online, I have spent days with them photographing the interiors to create a virtual photographic journey so that everyone could realize what it was like, I met many elderly people and received great life experiences that I will always cherish, I helped them to tell online about a very important statue found in the gardens of the retirement home, the second and only Statue of Eleonora d’Arborea, a great woman who made the history of our land and the history of all Europan legislation with its innovative written legal code “Carta de Logu”.
But now, everything has changed, I can’t say we’re not afraid, I already know how I’m going to contribute this time, I will try to create and check the lists of activities we are allowed to do, like gong to the pharmacies, supermarkets and activities that are open now divided by the various municipalities so that everyone can easily find the activities they can do, we have few freedoms and those few moments when we can go out are used only to solve our primary needs.
None of the elderly in that retirement home are now suffering from coronavirus and in my house we are all healthy, I hope that everything will pass soon and to anyone who is reading I hope you won’t be living in this situation, try to work at home If you can, do not panic and take care of yourself and your loved ones specially in these difficult times, be safe.
