Local Guides means so many decent things for me.
First of all, it means “life energy.” In the last weeks, all I do is contributing to Google Maps via my reviews in Turkish and quality photos. Sometimes, I do not feel the motivation to go outside despite the excellent weather. However, Local Guides drives me to go out and take pictures and write reviews about the places that I already know. And sometimes, I have the motivation, but I can not convince my wife to come with me outside ? When I show the pictures of the places that we will visit my wife, I can quickly satisfy her.
Secondly, it means “sharing.” I believe that we have to benefit the internet not only by consuming great content but also by providing valuable information to the rest of the world. Especially older and experienced people like me should share their backgrounds and knowledge with the younger ones. I see a lot of young people only visiting social media sites all day and do not offer anything worthwhile. I believe that life is useful if you share your experiences with the rest of the world. Local Guides allows me to share my experiences in places with a different perspective.
Lastly, Local Guides means “being up-to-date.” The majority of my friends are loaded with outdated info about the places in my neighbourhood. Sometimes they decide to have some tea in a cafe, but when they go there, they see that the cafe is closed for months. It is the same when they decide to go on holiday. Thanks to the Local Guides, I am the most “up-to-date” person among them, and all of my friends ask me about my reviews on places. But I recommend them to take a look at my Google Maps profile and read my reviews carefully. I send them my Google Maps profile and suggest they follow me, so they can follow up on my latest contributions and update themselves regularly.
