Being part of the Local Guides Program means a great deal to me.
It is exciting and fun and it has become a great addition to my life.
To me, the Local Guides Program means helping others and making my own life more exciting.
There are three groups of people I want to help by being a good local guide:
- Me: make my life more fun, meaningful. Help myself pay more attention to details and thereby experience everything more intensely.
- Businesses: help places being found. By adding pictures and reviews it helps them to have more customers and more success.
- People looking for places: people (like me) are looking at pictures of places (restaurants, stores, parks, etc) and reading the reviews of others. It helps them to find great places and discover new places, they would have never found without the help of google maps and the contributions of others
And the good thing is, it’s not even hard work to be a good local guide. It became part of my everyday life. And it is fun. A lot of fun!
It is so much fun to show people the places I’ve been to. I want to share my experiences and help others with finding great places.
Recently I even made a list of all the great restaurants and cafes in my home town.
Adding relevant pictures and reviews became part of my everyday life. And it doesn’t matter if it`s at home or on vacation.
It all kinda started about five years ago by adding pictures to locations on google maps.
After a while, it became more knowingly. I added more and more pictures and reviews. And they became more relevant.
It was then when being a local guide started having a meaning.
It means helping others and making me be more conscious of my surroundings.
Conclusion:
I have the feeling, there is so much more I have to discover. There is so much more being a local guide and being a member of Local Guides Connect has to offer me.
I cant wait to meet more people like me from around the world and learn from them. I cant wait to find out, what it means to be a part of the Local Guides Program.
What I have learned so far is that it is super exciting and this is just the beginning.
