Being an international community today seems different than being one, only couple of months ago. With the crisis that hit us, all over the world, i’m wondering how can we still be an active, useful and amazing community.
But I think we already have the answer. The fact that we’re still keep this community active, still moving things around, sharing ideas and past experiences make me feel that if will get through this - we can get through anything.
I became a Google local guide around 2 years ago while living couple of month in London. This was an amazing experience for me to see something else, a new culture and a different life than the one I had back home. During this time all I wanted to do is to share my enthusiastic thoughts about the new places Iv’e seen. I was sure that if I find a place to be cool and fun, so, many people will find it that way as well. This is why I started to share all the new places, restaurants, bars, parks and markets Iv’e visited.
I understood that I get more pleasure to post new places with people who will actually use my advice, rather than just post it on social media, where I might get more likes but it has less of a value. So I started posting every new and cool place I visited, and I saw that there’re so many people who are interested in my opinion and looking for it. This is what kept me on going.
And today, during this insane crisis that hits us, while siting on the sofa the whole day, I can open up my Google account and be reminded of all the great places Iv’e been at during a more peaceful time. And the fact that this community is keep on being active, reminds me that we’re all in this together, in good and bad times.
We share our recommendations when traveling and our thoughts when staying at home. And this is the real value of a real community.
