What does the Local Guides program mean to me : A hope for small local restaurants

If you recently come across the news about Thailand, you probably heard about how bad the political situations are. What the government have done barely supports small business. As we all know, Thailand are known for its variety street food and local food that cannot be found anywhere else in the world but many are still UNKNOWN, UNDISCOVERED, UNAPPRECIATED. Many are closing down because they have limited resources (internet, languages, knowledge) and money to do marketing for their business. I know this is not right and I want to do something about it.

Local Guides program is a perfect fit as powerful tools to deal with the situation. It allows people who have resources to help expand the information about small business to people all around the world. With a few clicks, you can have an idea of what the place looks like and whether you want to go visit the place.

Many people who owns business in rural areas do not speak English. This is where we, as a local guides, can give them a hand. Imagine posting pictures of menus and writing a few words describing about how good the food was and there’s a famous food vlogger from other side of the earth come to experience it him/herself and he/she upload the vlog on Youtube. That can change people’s lives.

Strong community and support is what we need right now especially in developing countries. Being a local guide is like, in my opinion, an online social workers who aims for a better society starting small but creates globally impacts in a long run. If you spend just a couple minutes on Google Maps that help people lives better, then why not?
