Ambassador
Being a Google Local Guide is more than just taking pictures and giving ratings, people want to know what to expect from a consumer’s perspective; they want to know what your experience was like. Being a Local Guide is not only a local responsibility but a global one because people travel from abroad either nationally or internationally, and they might be looking for something in a pinch and need to know where they can get it, or might be looking to explore something new. This responsibility also extends to the business owners to let them know how well of a job they are doing and what else they could offer or make the experience better. Authentic reviews, both positive and negative, help future customers know what they are getting into before heading out and potentially wasting time, patience, and money.
ActiveNow more than ever, I see it as a personal challenge to go out and explore and try new things. By being invested in the program it makes me go a few blocks further to see what is down the street or around the corner. Many people get stuck in the comfort zone but as a personal challenge to try new experiences, shop at new stores, eat at new restaurants. and help give businesses an organic electronic presence, which is very important in this day and age.
Mission
My personal mission with the Local Guides program is to be the top guide in Cancun and help businesses get connected on Google Maps. Some business owners I have spoken to have expressed their deep gratitude for me wanting to take pictures, videos, and review what they are doing. They are grateful for having people share their experience and give them feedback. It is really about bringing people together and giving a voice to the little places with quality service and products. Not to mention, finding hidden gems along the way that are worth checking out such as hidden beaches off the beaten path.
