Hello, everyone!
My name is Tâmara Lima, I am 29, graduated in Law, musician, photographer and Baiana Local Guide. So, as you can see, this picture was taken in 2018, when googlers brought the event Grow With Google to Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.
But why Baiana Local Guide?
Baiano (for men) or Baiana (for women) is the regional name of all that born in the state of Bahia.
I chose this name because my history with Google Maps starts here, in my city, when I was studying English and, someday in 2014, while walking with my parents by the Historic Center of Salvador, at Praça da Sé, Whe entered the Subway to lunch, but a german couple was having trouble buying a Subway sandwich, because the attendant didn’t speak English and could not understand what they wanted and they didn’t know speaking portuguese.
When seeing that situation, I couldn’t stand still. So, I got up from the chair and went to help them.
-
Excuse me, can Ip you, lady? - Quickly, that lady smiled at me and replied:
-
Yes, of course! We want to buy 2 sandwiches and, as you can see, she doesn’t understands me. - Ready, I started helping that couple of tourists and, at least, the lady asked me how I learned to speak so well that language and I talked to her about my English School.
Ending that help, I returned home thinking about how another language can open doors to us, mostly to help someone. I have never been happier before, despite having helped many tourists on my way (because my father’s job is nearly), that day was different.
Since then, I felt something new and my desire to help people to find the right way to somewhere, either on the street or on Google Maps was born.
Someday, I received an email from Google, inviting me to enjoy the Program, I liked the form, the structure like a game, and the rewards. Recently, on Facebook, I won the superfan seal of the Google page, for example, but those things makes me happy, although it seems a little thing.
In short, I love technology and follow the Google evolution since 2012, year of my first Android acquisition. I never have been traveled abroad, yet, but hope to make some dreams come true soon. My first plane trip was in 2016, to Rio de Janeiro and I loved that because I moved to everywhere using my Google Maps (using subway, bus, uber, touristic points, restaurants).
That trip to Rio leaded me to my future husband. I was going to be a bridesmaid and now I am close to my wedding. Thats what this Program means to me: connecting people to every places.
So, I do my best traveling in my country, trying to help people in Brazil to move better and to know better what they see in Google Maps, and, believe me, amout of people are searching for places to go, before going to malls, markets, restaurants, other places, services and government agencies.
That’s all, people!! Hope you liked my simple introduction about me and hope to be more connected this year!!
See y’all!!
