IT MADE NO MEANING AT FIRST
At first, when I joined the local guide, it didn’t make any meaning to me. I didn’t even understand what I was doing and why I was doing it. But along the line, I started making sense out of it and found it even more interesting when people make comments and ask questions about my post and places I visit. It was like I was communicating with friends even though I didn’t know them, it gave me another experience of communication.
The nature of my job allows me to travel within my locality and even explore other African countries. Each time I embark on a trip, I get really excited not just because of my personal experience but because I get to share my experience (new places and things) with people across the world. I get to tell people what to expect when they visit the same place- explaining my experience through time, pictures and words. At the end of the day, I always feel fulfilled about the journey. For me, the
local guide is like a journal/diary I can share with the world. As a local guide with a lot of travel experience, one of the difficulties I face on my trips is getting a comfortable, neat and affordable hotel. Another difficulty I usually face is getting affordable restaurants and less pricey stores. I believe other travelers encounter similar difficulties on their trip. So far, I have developed an interest in sharing my experiences about affordable hotels, stores, and restaurants that other travelers can relate to. This is an area that any traveler shouldn’t have difficulty in anymore in this “technology-age”; hotels, restaurants, and stores constitute the most important parts of a trip, it automatically narrates your experience through your food, words, touch, and souvenirs.
