In this post i would like to share my journey as a local guide . Before i was known about the google maps and i always thought that this would help in many ways but i didn’t thought that this app would have many more behind it .
Since , I loved to travel , Google maps had helped me alot to find many places . i just thought it’s just for exploring places but never known story behind the scene (google maps).
I got to know about the local guide 3 years back. And then I started contributing on Google maps by adding photos and writing reviews of places. I was contributing to google maps just for fun and timepass but didn’t thought it would be very useful . After 1 year it changed my life when i got to know about local guide connect then i started my local guide journey in 2018 .Unknowingly, i was just contributing for 1 year just for fun. Hahahaha i know it is just stupidness.
I used to post my experience in Local Guide connect but still i was uncomfortable talking to other local guides without knowing them…I remember my first meet up with other local guides which was at morning 7:30 am in Cubbon park , Bangalore. It was a great experience knowing each and everyone since we were connected each other unknowingly. I got connected with other local guides and shared my ideas with google team. As the time flows i started collecting information and got to know more about local guides through meetups. Then, I started contributing more and more in Google Maps. So, that my photos and reviews would help others.
But when i visited to my hometown village few months back at that time i was searching many places but i couldn’t find some places in google maps including nearby small villages, roads, shops and other unexploded places. It was really tough to explore outskirt areas and small villages. Then, i started meetups with local people in outskirt areas who are unaware of local guides. Together we started adding photos and reviews of places like roads, shops, etc.
This is how i started building a community with the help of Google Maps to explore places in every villages and towns. The reason i love to contribute is i want to show to whole world that India is also having many beautiful places with different types of cultures. I feel Self- satisfied and proud to myself when i see my photos and reviews are increasing thousands of views day by day. It is so glad for me because it is helping many people . So lucky to have the opportunity to help the society just like a “HIDDEN SUPERMAN” .
