The google local guides program has helped me connect with fun, historical, elite spots around my local area here in Lagos, Nigeria, I have also been able to meet and interact with old and new friends or people I meet during my very very scanty outings… lol, I can’t even begin to scratch the surface of the tasty and of course pocket-friendly meals (so foodie of me) I have been able to familiarize my taste buds with and most importantly the memories I have been able to gather from being a local guide in my community.
Lagos is the epicenter of commerce and economic growth in Nigeria today. She is home to the headquarters of both national and global companies as well as SME’s and several professional services. In essence, people are always trooping into Lagos everyday. Whether you are here on business or for pleasure, Lagos is always bustling and moving with the best spots and hubs for fun and relaxation.
The need to cover and help breakdown lists of awesome hangout spots for local Lagosians and foreigners alike has been my driving force since my decision to take my local guide journey seriously this past one year. It is also helping me break away from my introvert attitude - you know, making excuses to not hang out with friends and such. Knowing that the need to help members of my community connect with the best spots that are both trendy and pocket-friendly fuels my push as a local guide.
I am definitely still growing and learning and hope that I get selected to go to the Bay Area for the Connect Live 2020, this will be a 1st for me and would also help meet and learn from other experienced and more exposed local guides, various other ways I can be of help to my community in connect more people to places with the best of reviews and such
