Local Guides Program helped me in using google maps efficiently in Egypt by offering these features for Local Guides :
1. Adding a missing Place or Updating its location on map :
I can reach most of the places here through google maps thanks to the local guides’ additions & modifications, and i’m also able to add missing places to help people reach them too.
2. Adding or Correcting Information about Roads :
My Navigation experience with google maps everyday gets better by the addition of the newly built roads & bridges to google maps & also the modification of their names or directions.
3. Adding a Photo of a Place :
It helps me in finding places more accurately by showing me a photo of its exterior, & helps me know more about this place by showing me a photo of its interior space.
4. Editing The Name of a Place :
It’s useful for adjusting the names of all places & helps me in finding places more accurately when looking for an exact name.
5. Editing The Category of a Place :
it’s useful for adjusting the categories of all places & helps me in finding places by category if i’m not looking for an exact name.
6. Adding Working Hours, Contact info & Website of a Place :
Maybe these are considered additional information to be displayed on a navigation site, but they’re very useful to me to know literally all the information i need about the places i’m going to.
7. Rating & Reviewing Places :
For Me, Google Maps is the most reliable hanging out or travelling companion when it comes to finding interesting gardens, monuments & museums to visit or valuable cafes, restaurants & shopping malls, And by giving the local guides the opportunity of rating or reviewing places Google Maps makes it easier for you to know which places are the best in a specific city or region.
8. Creating Lists :
A very useful way for people who loves writing down places in a group or list for a specific purpose. It helped me in creating, for example, lists of the best places to eat or drink or visit in Alexandria & Cairo.
9. Updates :
It helps me in knowing the news of places i follow & provides me with suggestions about new places to visit in Alexandria.
In Conclusion, The Local Guides Program made me feel like i’m really connected to people all around the world having my same passion of improving Google Maps, providing information about places in their countries & other countries they visit.
