Hey Guys!
I am Akshay Pandey, and like many of us I also want to make this world a better place. With all the chaos around us right now, at times we feel helpless, hamstrung, not knowing what is it that we could do to make this world a better place. For me this is when Google Local Guide steps in. It is my way to help my community.
By posting photos, reviews, and sharing my experience of the places that I had visited, I kill two birds with one stone. On one hand I get to sharpen my skills like photography (for which I have started to get compliments now), communication (which I improve by learning new words and then using them in my reviews). And on the other hand, I get to help people.
My dad hasn’t been involved in our lives, and when I was growing up my mom already had too much on her plate that I didn’t want to bother her more. This is why I tried and found a way to get things done myself. And now I would like to help others and give them what I wish I had – someone to guide me.
People may see my contribution and make a decision for themselves. They won’t have to go around searching for where can they get their photos printed, or which is the best barber shop nearby, or which restaurant is best to go on a date. They could do that online, sitting at one place, everything that they need to know is provided by Local Guides. This to me is what this program means – ease of life, providing to my community, helping it get better.
In this world of internet, cell phones are our tools. What we build with them totally depends on us. Some build a media empire, some build a career out of it. I choose to use it to share my experiences, both good and bad, so that others can invest their time wisely.
