What does Local Guide Program mean to me – feels good to be helpful.

I, Shubham Shaw like to travel a lot. Being an Indian I know there is a lot of culture to soak in from all over the country. Be it religion, folklores, handicrafts, or the food. In different parts of the country, one can find their different parts of the taste buds activated. And wherever I go Google Maps is my constant companion. :+1:

But still in this fast progressing, ever-changing nation, there are many places which aren’t added on the map, or still many of the facts of them are wrong  . So, it causes some problem while on commute, and me after realising the power of a Google Local Guide, feel empowered as well as responsible to correct the facts and update the latest information about a place or add missing places in the map, as correct information is the key to most of the solutions and helps in making decisions while travelling. :relieved:

There’s one incident, when my uncle had to go to mobile service centre and he searched it on Google Maps before starting the journey of 30 kilometers from home. There he found the cell phone number of the owner of the centre. He called them and found that the service centre was actually closed on that day due to some unforeseen reasons. My uncle just saved time, petrol, physical energy and what not. :relieved:

Later when I came to hear about this, I was thrilled to let him know that it was me who had added the phone number on google maps a year earlier :innocent: . He was quite surprised to learn, what Local Guide Community is and how we can help people all around the globe by sharing such information.

It felt really good that I am of some help to someone even in my absence. I still upload many pictures, and give as much information about the place, ambience, food taste, wheelchair accessibility, or correct the location of few places on the map, correct the spellings of many places, so that one can find their desired destination which they are in search for. :world_map: :mag:

As our teachers have taught. Sharing is Caring. :heartbeat:
