I have been reading local guides 7 to 8 since a few days ago. My wish was this year I thought maybe my name could be added to the Guiding Star but it didn’t happen. What did I do? And a few days ago when I went to take pictures at UNICEF’s Bangladesh office, they asked me for an ID card. Due to this, they did not allow me to take pictures and asked me to delete the images taken from me.
Do we have IDs or badges for those who work as local guides? If there is no provision, a provision must be made. And if so, how can I get my ID or badge? Please help me
You can read about their efforts. And you can open their profiles on Connect and on Google Maps to study their contributions.
I would recommend that you always ask for permission to take photos if in any doubt. It is not worth arguing over. You can use your profile page on Google Maps as an ID card where you can easily show examples of your contributions.
Keep in mind we are not representing Google when being Local Guides. We are volunteers helping businesses, Maps users and the community.
Well, it may sound weird, @HRIDOYs , but your two questions are deeply related.
I agree with @MortenCopenhagen , what a best ID than your profile in the official App made by Google?
The problem is that you have to show your profile (your contributions) and showing long reviews fully copied form Wikipedia and other websites, or a wide series of redundant photo is something that probably will not help to give you the permission for taking photos.
Cleaning your profile for this kind of contributions will probably help you to be welcomed to add your photos in Maps, and most probably will also help you to remain a Local Guide, because what you did is also against the rules. Maybe knowing how to better contribute will also help you in the future to become a Guiding Star
