Who is a local google guide?

A local guide is any contributor to the google maps, that helps make contributions like, reviews, photos, check facts, add or edit places on the google maps to improve users’ experience.

I became a google local guide in 2017 after I got introduced to this community by a friend. As you might expect, at first, I did not understand how to go about it or what next steps to take. But that shouldn’t be the case for you cause I have you covered with this link.

What does this mean to me?

My experience so far has been an unending series of exposure, adventure, and learnings.

Being a google local guide has exposed me to a lot of places, and it is fascinating to know that making contributions and sharing my experiences with google maps is beneficial to users out there. As a google guide, it is more than just making reviews of places, or adding photos it is an opportunity to put myself out there to tell wonderful stories about the places I have been to and moments I have shared. It is an opportunity to lead, because by experiencing things first so that thousands of people out there know what to expect is amazing. It gets more interesting for me to know that there are levels attached to it, and points to be acquired at every level, making contributing competitive in a fun way.

Being a google local guide to me means I have to be accountable, careful and honest about my reviews because people count on me; the more I add value to peoples lives I feel valued too .

Think of all the terrible places you have been to that you wished you had been warned somehow of them.or think of how difficult it was for you to locate a place because people gave you the wrong directions or something. Looking at all these things and knowing that I can be able to fix them is what being a google local guide means to me.
