What does actually local guides programme means to me

Hola! My name is Nicolás, I’m level 7 local guide from Santiago del Estero, Argentina, specifically from the North, where there are few local guides. I started being Local guide, perhaps as many of you. Changed my cellphone, and automatically after visiting a place, appeared a notification asking how was my experience. Few months later, I received an email asking for join local guide programme. From that moment, I started to pay attention each details from places wherever I go. The environment, food taste, attention, prices, menu, kind of chairs, if it is wheel chair accessible and much more things that I never realised I could keep on mind!.

After 2 years being local guide I can say that I could express from my point of view the best and bad things about places and help a lot of people when need make a decision about visiting it. I feel ecstatic each time I receive a like because I know my review was helpful, and still more, when Google sends me an email with my progress.

Google email about how many views had your last uploaded picture.

Definitely this is the most waited email for every local guide.

On the other hand, in my province there are a lot of unupdated places or not published on maps, such as small markets, library, car wash, hairdresser, and other little entrepreneurs who doesn’t know about social networks. And when you tell them “Hi, could I take pictures from your work place in order to add on Google maps?” First they obviously doubt, but after explain what is it about, they access. I really like do that because there’s nothing more comforting than help those people who tries to grow up, specially if they are not tech friendly. It’s unbelievable for me that a month later those places has received more than 20000 views! You are not only winning some points, but also you are helping many people, and that’s excellent… For that reason, I made an Instagram page, in which I try to encourage people, specially from my Province and North Argentina and grow our community!
