I became a local guide purely by chance. Being a passionate solo (no-guide) traveler, I used to look for necessary information in books or printed guides before my every forthcoming travel but often I could not find what I needed. For example instead of a dozen traditional places of interest in Rome known by everyone or its shopping street I would prefer to read about unknown sightseeing points or nice corners not overcrowded anytime by tourists. Being in Rome I wanted to gohere
It is a nice old garden on the hill with a beautiful church and the best view one can imagine and there are quite a few people there. I discovered this information not in a guide but in an article of a Russian art expert, I shared this photo and now it is available for all those who like hidden beauties as I do.
It is also very important to know places where one can eat quickly, well and not expensive - Michelin restaurant could be nice but perhaps not for every day Here is my last discovery in Berlin, which I am sharing with pleasure: cheap-fast-delicious. Or this magic cafe in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia
it has cozy atmosphere and beautiful design, they serve tea and self-made delicious cakes and there is no signboard outside - how else one can find it?
Or such exotic findings as this Orthodox Church in Altea (Valencia, Spain)
A local person showed it to me - I had never read about it before. I believe it might be important for many of those who plan their vacation to know that there is a church of their confession available and the others might simply like to see such an unusual building. Now one can find this information on Google Maps.Or small towns not included in traditional guides. Did you know that Tangermuende was a residence of Charles IV and that he turned it into a real fortress? No guide on the North of Germany has information about it, but look how beautiful it is
Of course, sometimes I cannot stop myself from sharing traditional views - ‘nobody is perfect’ - but much more often I try to upload pictures you cannot easily find everywhere.
This baroque monastery in Vienna with wonderful wall paintings is rather easy to reach
Since it is situated outside the city, the information about it is not included in the list of main attractions.
Or this small massage salon on the seashore in Thailand. Hotels in this province are normally cheap and there are not so many tourists. I found this town by chance but it is a real pearl for those who seeks a calm and not overcrowded resort.
Or this place lost in the woods of Spreewald, where one can rent a boat and make a wonderful trip along the system of canals.
Google Maps would find an easy and fast route but how could people know about it?
I believe that Google Maps was thought out for people like me. When I discovered it to myself I started sharing there information which had always been lacking to me. Now I am a local guide and I am proud of it. I do good to others.
