I am happy to be a local guide to share public place in my city, I was be a local guide 2 months ago and I active to give Contributte on google maps but I still don’t know what is the benefit to be local guide??
Although I sometime get some Gmail from google maps I still don’t know the gain to be a local guide.

Local Guides enjoy early access to new product features and rewards from Google partners and these awards are available worldwide or by region. There is no financial compensation from being a Local Guide as this is an at-will program that Local Guides are free to contribute to at their own leisure.
Perks are offered to Local Guides from time to time as a thank you for contributing great content on Google Maps. You may receive a perk because you’ve consistently shared high-quality contributions, reached a certain level, or often review a category related to a perk. Perks may be offered to Local Guides in particular regions.

Personally, I take Local Guides as my giving back to society through Google Maps.
I’m using Google Maps time to time to navigate where I’m going or looking for some references.
For me, perks are just bonus. The most beneficial thing I become a Local Guides is I could met other Local Guides that share the same passion as me. And some fellows Local Guides even met their spouse for the first time here, by become a Local Guides.
So, that’s the benefits of being a Local Guides that I’ve experienced. Maybe you need some little more time to find yours…
