@user_not_found To me, being a local guide is one form of giving back to the community. As this program is completely voluntary, when a meet up is organized you will have more people who are driven and united by the similar passion to help and give back to the community. The impact is stronger and can be under any of these 5 types found here in the meet up section. Isn’t it such a great feeling?
More over, you will end up meeting/making really good friends for life!

There are many advantages of hosting and participating in a meet-up such as meeting new people, discovering new places and cultures, sharing your knowledge with other people or taking beautiful photos together with other Local Guides. However, none of them are monetary, if that was your question.
