“Wesak” or “Vaishakya” is celebrated by Buddhists all over the world as the day Lord Budhdha was born, the day he attained enlightenment, and the day he passed away (attained Nirvana) - this is the Full Moon Day in May, and this year it happened to be May 18. The most holiest day in the Buddhist calendar. People engage in offering flowers and candles(Lamps) at temples, givings alms to the poor and more importantly meditation and reflection. The day after Wesak is the day of celebration and festival, where the related countries explode in lit, bright decorations. Every household would have decorated lanterns and flags. People step onto the road enjoying the decorations, lanterns and the festival. A microcosm of this festival was reflected in a small Buddhist Temple in Melbourne’s west, and the photos give a feel of the type of decorations…

@HoangDang Just a comment, Vietnam follows the Mahayana practice, am I correct?
@Sarath-Ab Half true. The south is Theravada and the north is Mahayana
The architecture also different from North to South
